It is out to Ballarat for today's racing in Victoria. After a good weekend hopefully we can back it up with some good mid-week tips.
Here they are
Ballarat R1 – Something New 3yo Maiden Plate (@ 1.00pm)
As expected this is an open race. I like Poco Gusto. Out of Encosta Delago this is a classy horse. First up ran 2nd but was closing in late. Should go one better here. Another filly out of Encosta Delago is Rocha how was only just over run first up. Aiglon rates highly and could threaten. Long Haul is the other main chance.
1. #15 Poco Gusto 2. #16 Rocha 3. #1 Aiglon 4. #5 Long Haul
Ballarat R2 – Limo Man Maiden Plate (@ 1.35pm)
There is even less form for this race. Had a look at breeding trainers and any form. The two Exceed and Excel progeny (Giotto and Wojcinski) look good. The Hays trained Go Phenomenal should also be up there. Acquolino looks a should fill the minors
1. #8 Giotto 2. #13 Wojcinski 3. #4 Go Phenomenal 4. #1 Acquolino
Ballarat R3 – Eclipse Ford Maiden Plate (@ 2.10pm)
Myshinycash has been racing to some form. 3rd up here and should be rock solid. Berlin Belle could also threaten but has failed last two times @ mid-week level. Murphy’s Cash had been racing well prior to a spell. Could surprise first up but place looks best chance. Aloysia has been getting better but should not really threaten these.
1. #4 Myshinycash 2. #2 Berlin Belle 3. #10 Murphy’s Cash 4. #1 Aloysia
Ballarat R4 – Melbourne Marriot Hotel Maiden (@ 2.45pm)
Two starts for two 2nds should see Offenders get its maiden win today. Threepees will be right up there and could get over Offenders. The other chances include Lady Bianca, but he seems to prefer a softer track. Cauldron looks to be the other chance.
1. #11 Offenders 2. #5 Threepees 3. #7 Lady Bianca 4. #9 Cauldron
Ballarat R5 – Ballarat Come to Life Handicap (@ 3.20pm)
Captainpauli is the one to beat here. Has a good second up record and despite failure first up should get over the line first here. Of the other horses, Rock Home Late looks the best. Parva’s Pride runs hot and cold while Miss Moody River failed last start but is capable of a big run.
1. #1 Captainpauli 2. #9 Rock Home Late 3. #7 Parv’s Pride 4. #8 Miss Moody River
Ballarat R6 – Golden Nugget Bakery Handicap (@ 4.00pm)
This will be fought out between O’Reilly’s Clock and Who’s ya Daddy. O’Reilly’s Clock has good form 2nd up and will take some beating. Who’s ya Daddy won last start and has a respectable record 3rd up. I think O’Reilly’s Clock will be to strong though. Frangelico could threaten and should be watched. Electomotive is classy but has no form. Could surprise.
1. #3 O’Reilly’s Clock 2. #4 Who’s ya Daddy 3. #10 Frangelico 4. #6 Electomotive
Ballarat R7 – Red Lion Hotel Handicap (@ 4.40pm)
Dabble has only a fair record first up but has a great record over the 1200m. Oliver also makes this looks even better. Mossbemad has been racing well but steps up to mid-week here. Looks to be the main threat. Oblaque could be the surprise. Won first up in June but has not been seen since. Levant had a good first up win and should be in the mix.
1. #1 Dabble 2. #6 Mossbemad 3. #12 Oblaque4. #5 Levant
Ballarat R8 – Fraser Nevett and Fawley (@ 5.20pm)
Looking through the form. There are a couple of main chances. Leica Ding looks the best. Won 2 and placed in the other this prep. Will take some beating. Samburu Warrior has Oliver on board and has an impressive record first up and will threaten. Owzat is stepping up to mid week but has good form and will be there abouts. Absolute Star ran 3rd first up and won 2nd up last preparation. Could surprise but place looks best.
1. #13 Leica Ding 2. #2 Samburu Warrior 3. #6 Owzat 4. #3 Absolute Star
